Staying at Home

So I never pictured myself as a stay at home mom, but the more I think about it and the more I'm at home it's really hard to want anything else.

Day care centers really aren't that bad, but it's been two weeks that both of my kids have been fighting off germs that they got from only 4 days of day care. They of course managed to share it with the whole family and I am just now starting to get out of the funk. Poor Jasper in his whole two months of living has already had more infections than I can stand!

The dilemma now is what can I possibly do to stay home with them but yet survive on one income. So far I haven't come up with anything. I look at day cares all over Albuquerque and I don't think that it's going to get much better - the prices however keep getting higher (which by the way, I read that the average cost a year for a baby is 7000 and that's suppose to include day care - I really want to know what city that was in because that would not be Albuquerque).

Now, besides the economical and day care side of it - I have really enjoyed my kids. It's been amazing seeing both of them learn so much. I think Tristan has honestly learned more at home with me than in daycare. He's singing, trying to count to ten, and trying to recite the ABC's... oh yeah, and he's my personal secretary to the random 1-800 numbers that call. Jasper has discovered his hands this week and has been attempting to roll over to see what he can do with his hands. If he was feeling better, he might actually enjoy the random times that he rolls, but for now he thinks it's the worst thing on the planet.

Decisions, decisions... I don't know when I became so indecisive. Either way, if anyone has some great ideas, send them my way!

  2. Hi Robin! Some time back I bought the book, "You Can Afford to Stay Home With Your Kids." I definitely recommend it; it describes budgeting techniques and lots of cool tips that have helped me stay home with my kids 90% of the time. Good luck momma!
